About Us
Ewaka Foundation is a social enterprise that is at the forefront of uplifting communities and the lives of the disadvantaged children and women in Uganda. It is a registered non-profit organisation as well as a community based organisation and a registered children’s home dedicated to nuurturing, empowering and uplifting vulnerable children, women and families.
Through our intergrated community programs, we focus on care, education, health, economic empowerment and re – creation – Creating Pathways for long term economic development and strategic long – term sustainable change.

<< Vision
Founded in 2023, ewaka foundation began as a small initiative responding to the needs of vulnerable children in the slums of Kamwokya – kamapala and masese – jinja by initially establishing a children’s home in kampala providing shelter, food and education and later on recognized the broader challenges Facing families & communities.
2013 – Rented a small home to provide shelter & basic needs in Kamwokya.
2014 – Acquired land in kyabirwa & started construction to establish our permanent home in Jinja city.
2015 – Expanded into a larger rented house to accomodate more children in Kamwokya.
2016 – Relocated with all programs & activities to our permanent home in jinja.
2018 – completed construction of the sports center featuring a football pitch with volley ball and basketball courts.
2023 – Launched the women empowerment program, equiping women with entrepreneural and business skills for start ups & acceleration.
2025 – established the Ewaka women’s savings and investment scheme, promoting financial Literacy, inclusion and long term self – reliance.

ABAWAMU E.V
Our partner organization in Germany. Abawamu E.V. focusses on fostering education, international understanding and collaboration through arts and cultural exchange. The organization supports us in organizing school projects and fundraising activities in Germany.

KEIGA FOUNDATION
This U.S. American/Ugandan/German foundation supports artistic projects that advance social justice and public discourse on social issues. It focuses on empowering women, disadvantaged children and youth, and international artistic and cultural exchange.

BUKAHARA
Music without borders – Bukahara unite influences from different genres, cultures and languages in harmonious and unique compositions. The band is committed to promoting cultural diversity and social justice. We are proud to call them our partners and to accompany their 2022 tour with a dance performance by Jonas Byaruhanga, founder and artistic director of Keiga Dance Company, Keiga Foundation, Ewaka Foundation Uganda and team member of Abawamu e.V..

GAYELA CHILDREN FOUNDATION
The Gayela Children Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Jinja, Uganda. It was established to provide vulnerable children with a home, education and support throughout their childhood. Gayela Children Foundation and Ewaka Foundation Uganda are united by common values and we plan to cooperate for our vocational training progam.
The Ewaka Volunteer Program
Our Volunteer Program provides a unique opportunity for all individuals who are passionate about creatingchange in the lives of vulnerable children, women and communities.
Over the Years, over 30 volunteers have played a pivotal role in advancing the foundation’s missionand objectives. The volunteer Placements are flexible, ranging from 6 – 12 months depending on the area of interest and availability providing all the volunteers with an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the vulnerable communities while gaining a hands – on experience in community development and empowerment.
